How will the RX 8000 series compare to the 7900 XTX, the GPU leader of team red? Here is what we currently know about AMD RDNA 4 next Radeon graphics cards.

Team Red is already hard at work on its next architecture, so new AMD RDNA 4-powered graphics cards won’t be far behind. Here is everything we currently know about the upcoming Radeon GPU generation to help you distinguish between reliable rumors and red herrings.

When AMD releases its RDNA 4 GPUs, it may be able to claim the coveted title of the best graphics card. But it will need to perform noticeably better than RDNA 3-pixel pushers of the current generation.

As a result of the fierce competition these upcoming Radeon cards will face from the Nvidia RTX 5000 and Intel Battlemage GPUs, PC builders will, at the very least, have many options for their next graphics card.

Any information on these pixel pushers is subject to change because AMD RDNA 4 is still in its early stages of development. With that in mind, take a pinch of salt with every bite down below.

Release date rumors for AMD RDNA 4

Two years after the Radeon RX 7900 XT and XTX launches, This is anticipated to go on sale sometime in 2024.

AMD hinted at the release of its Navi 4x GPU-powered RDNA 4 graphics cards at its Financial Analyst Day presentation. The timetable of each RDNA iteration, which concludes with the fourth generation in 2024, could be observed on a slide during the webcast.

The most potent pixel pushers should appear first, followed by more affordable SKUs, if the Radeon RX 7000 series release pattern is any indication.

AMD RDNA 4 price rumors

The pricing of this won’t be known for quite some time, since team red hasn’t yet disclosed the price of anticipated GPUs like the Radeon RX 7800 XT and others.

Having said that, we may estimate a general range using prior releases and recent patterns. For instance, the MSRP of the Radeon 7900 XTX and 6900 XT are both $999 USD, but we doubt that this will be the case with a hypothetical 8000 series flagship (at least for now).

It’s realistic to expect that RDNA 4 could surpass the four-figure price barrier given that TMSC has increased the pricing of its wafers by as much as 25%.

AMD RDNA 4 specifications rumors

Until this is officially announced, any information we learn about its specifications is generally speculative, however, some early information has already surfaced.

RDNA 4 graphics cards, according to sources close to RedGamingTech, might include up to 24GB of GDDR7 VRAM. Despite not being more than the 7900 XTX, the speed should be substantially higher than the GDDR6 used by that GPU.

Additionally, these pixel pushers must make use of PCIe 5.0 and the newly enhanced infinite cache. 3.5GHz “looks easily achievable,” according to RGT, although we’ve heard this before with RDNA 3.

AMD RDNA 4 benchmark rumors

There won’t be any AMD RDNA 4 benchmark charts appearing anytime soon. We currently at least have some scraps of knowledge about performance.

According to RedGamingTech’s sources, This will provide “major ray tracing gains” and Navi 4x GPU dies will perform “over twice as well as their forerunner.” We’ll have to wait and see how this affects frame rates on various graphics card models.
